Planning for 2023
It is that time of year. Christmas has come and things are slow between now and the new year. We are planning for the coming year, and deciding what projects to tackle.
Our friends will be happy to know that we still will have layers (there are 14 babies already in the brooder), and we will be upping our meat chicken numbers this year. We will also continue with turkeys next year. You may not know, but we tried turkeys out this year. We made a few mistakes and learned a lot - and in the end we had 3 turkeys for our family. The one we had this Christmas was the best ever. I don’t think it was solely because we were so proud of raising it, but rather that Neil is an amazing chef. Perhaps it was a bit of both!
We welcome your thoughts and experiences on raising some turkeys! They make the most adorable noises. We also are considering other animals for our farm this year, but have not made any final decisions. Animals for consideration include rabbits, feeder pigs and some steers. Your thoughts and experiences are welcome!
